paper cut-outs

i've just begun making a paper cut-out, inspired by the work of Rob Ryan. I've drawn the image onto the reverse of a piece of paper painted, on the right side, with Acrylic.
As I was assessing the progress I noticed the series of shadows created by the fact I was working underneath ceiling spotlights... now I'm thinking how can I recreate this image, perhaps in silk screen a series of screens and a subtle gradation of tone but not colour.

there's an interesting article on the 'Spitalfields Life' website about Rob Ryan and he currently has work exhibited at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

  1. The shadows are just the best thing about paper cuts.
